Help with PDF files: Library and Museum of Freemasonry
Help with PDF files

The PDF file format is a common internet file format (PDF stands for Portable Document Format). It is used for electronic distribution because it faithfully preserves the look and feel of the original document complete with fonts, colours, images and layout. It also can be used across many different types of computers and browsers.

The Library and Museum of Freemasonry has numerous PDF files to download throughout this website. All PDF files within this site open in a new window.

You will need Acrobat Reader software to view Adobe Acrobat PDF files. If you do not have the software installed on your computer, you can download it for free at Acrobat Reader (external website opens in a new window).

Guidance if you're using access technology

If you use access technology to view PDF documents go to the access.adobe.com (external website opens in a new window) site which provides information and tools. An online PDF conversion tool can be found at online conversion tools for Adobe PDF documents (external website opens in a new Window).

Guidance for downloading Acrobat files

There are two ways to download PDFs, right click on the PDF link, select 'save target as' from the pop-up menu, download to your hard disk. Or, open the PDF, click on the save icon on the Acrobat toolbar, download to hard disk.
