Voyagers Lodge Jewel, No. 40

The Order of Women Freemasons (“OWF”) established a travelling lodge to visit areas where no lodges were established and to initiate new members. Within the UK this was Mercury Lodge No 11 established in 1928. Later the OWF formed Voyagers Lodge No 40 in 1950 to establish lodges overseas. Its jewel is shown here reflecting the importance of air travel in the second half of the twentieth century. The jewel is currently on loan from the OWF to the latest exhibition at the Library and Museum and is reproduced here with permission.
