Encounters: Artists and Freemasonry

The Library and Museum’s latest exhibition explores how artists have responded to freemasonry over the last 300 years. It features the work of William Hogarth in the 18th century, the photographer Alvin Langdon Coburn in the 20th century and several artists from across Europe working today.

The exhibition opens on 25th February 2013 and runs until 20th September 2013

Details and pictures of the 150 oil paintings in the collection at Freemasons’ Hall in Great Queen Street are now available as one of over 3,200 venues across the UK participating in a joint project between the Public Catalogue Foundation (PCF) and the BBC. Freemasons Hall is one of many institutions (including all the Oxford Colleges and many of the Cambridge Colleges) that are not in public ownership which have joined the project for the benefit of wider public awareness and research.

New Exhibition – The Patriot Mason: Freemasonry in American Society

This new exhibition opens in the Library and Museum on America’s Independence Day, Monday 4th July, and continues until Christmas. It explores the role of freemasonry in American society from the 18th century to the present day …more
